Terms of use
Last updated 14 October 2026
Draft. These terms are waiting for legal review. Details in [square brackets] are still to be filled in.
The short version
- Dustly is free. Ads in guides, shop links and sponsors pay for it.
- Your homes and tasks are yours. We only use them to run the service.
- Be kind to the people you share a home with, and use cleaning products as their labels say.
1. These terms
These terms are between you and [legal entity name], [registered address]. By creating an account or using the app as a guest you agree to them. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal data.
2. Your account
You need to be [16] or over to create an account yourself. Younger children can only join a home through an adult in that home, who is responsible for them in the app. Keep your sign-in details to yourself and tell us if you think someone else is using your account.
3. Sharing a home
The owner of a home decides who joins and what role they have. Anyone in a home can see its rooms, tasks, rota and activity. Only invite people you live with or help in the home. If you leave a home, what you did there stays part of its history. If the owner deletes their account, ownership passes to the longest-standing adult.
4. Your content
You own what you add: rooms, tasks, notes and photos. You give us permission to store it and show it to the people in your home, only so we can provide the service. Don't add anything unlawful or anything that hurts other people.
5. Guides and safety
Our cleaning guides are general advice. Always follow the instructions on products and appliances, never mix cleaning products unless a guide and the labels say it's safe, ventilate rooms, and use gloves where needed. Jobs marked as needing a professional (for example gas or electrical work) should be done by one. To the extent the law allows, we're not responsible for damage caused by not following product instructions.
6. Ads, shop links and sponsors
The app is free and paid for by ads inside guides, affiliate links to shops and sponsored guides and routines. They are always labelled. What we earn from them is explained in our disclosures. Purchases you make in a shop are between you and that shop.
7. Changes and availability
We keep improving Dustly and may change or remove features. We aim to keep the service available but can't promise it will never be interrupted. If we ever close the service, we'll give you notice and a way to download your data.
8. Ending
You can delete your account at any time in Settings. We may suspend accounts that break these terms or harm others, and will tell you why unless the law prevents it.
9. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud. Otherwise, as the app is free, our total liability to you is limited to [£100]. Your statutory consumer rights are not affected.
10. Law
These terms are governed by the law of [England and Wales], and you can bring claims in the courts where you live.
